Variations Pro Theme Download For Free

I had a problem. I wanted a magazine layout on my blog. Not the standard list. Not a boring grid. I wanted something different. I wanted some posts to be featured, others to be small, some to have big images. I tried plugins. I tried custom CSS. Nothing worked the way I wanted. Then I found Variations. The free version was okay, but it did not solve my problem. The Pro version did. Here is what changed.

Variations is a block theme. It uses the WordPress block editor for everything. The free version gives you a few layout options. The Pro version gives you complete control over how your posts are arranged. I bought it for $39 a year. Here is what I learned after three months.

The Problem: My Blog Looked Like Every Other Blog

Before Variations, I used a standard theme. Every post looked the same. Same size image. Same position. Same excerpt length. My blog was boring. I wanted to highlight some posts. I wanted to make my best content bigger. I wanted to push older posts down. I could not do that with my old theme.

I tried a page builder. That worked, but it slowed my site down. I tried a plugin that promised custom layouts. It added so many options that I got overwhelmed. Variations Pro was simpler.

The Solution: The Custom Query Loop

Variations Pro adds a custom query loop block. You create a section, choose which posts to show (by category, by tag, by date), and choose how to display them. You can mix layouts in the same section. A large featured post on the left, three smaller posts on the right. A grid of posts in one row, a list in the next row. A carousel of posts from a specific category. The free version has a basic query loop. Pro gives you complete control.

I built a homepage with three sections. Section one: my three most popular posts in a grid. Section two: the latest news from my blog in a list. Section three: a carousel of posts from my portfolio category. It took me about an hour to set up. Now my homepage looks custom. No one else has the same layout.

If you are tired of your blog looking like every other blog, this feature alone is worth the $39.

The Second Problem: My Header Was Boring

The free version of Variations has a header. You can add a logo and a menu. That is it. No search bar. No social icons. No button. Variations Pro adds a header builder using blocks. You create your header with the block editor. You can add a site logo block, a navigation block, a search block, a social icons block, a button block. You can also make the header sticky. I added a search bar and a newsletter button to my header. People use them. My engagement went up.

The free version has no header builder. You get the default header. If you want more than a logo and a menu, you need Pro.

The Third Problem: My Footer Was Empty

The free version has a footer. You can add widgets. That is fine, but it is limited. Variations Pro gives you a footer builder with blocks. You can create columns. Add a newsletter signup form. Add recent posts. Add social icons. Add contact info. Add a copyright notice. I built a footer with four columns. It looks professional. It gives people reasons to stay on my site.

The free version has a basic footer. If you want a professional footer, you need Pro.

The Fourth Problem: My Single Posts Were All the Same

The free version has one template for single posts. Every post looks the same. Variations Pro lets you create different templates for different post types or categories. You can have one template for standard blog posts, another for recipes, another for reviews. Each template can have different elements. A recipe template can have a recipe card. A review template can have a pros and cons list. I created three templates. My content looks right for each type.

The free version has no custom templates. If you write different types of content, you need Pro.

The Fifth Problem: My Site Was Not Personalized

The free version looks the same for everyone. Variations Pro lets you create different headers for different pages. My homepage has a transparent header with a white logo. My blog posts have a sticky header with a colored logo. My landing pages have a simple header with no menu. This makes my site feel custom, not templated.

The free version has one header for every page. If you want different headers, you need Pro.

The Performance Reality

I was worried that adding all these features would slow my site. It did not. I tested before and after.

Free version: 93% GTmetrix, 1.4 seconds load time.

Pro version: 91% GTmetrix, 1.6 seconds load time.

The difference is small. My readers do not notice. Google still ranks my site well. The tradeoff is worth it.

The theme loads only the blocks you use. If you do not use the custom query loop, that code is not loaded. That keeps speed reasonable.

What Pro Does Not Have

Variations Pro does not have a dark mode toggle. It does not have built-in social share buttons. It does not have a related posts block (you can build one with the query loop, but it is not automatic). It does not have a built-in ad manager. If you need those, you will need plugins or a different theme.

Variations Pro is for people who want control over their layouts. If you are tired of your blog looking generic, buy it. The free version is fine for a simple blog. But if you want custom homepage sections, different headers for different pages, different templates for different posts, and a professional footer, you need Pro. The $39 per year is fair for what you get.

I bought it. My site looks unique now. My readers stay longer. I spend less time tweaking CSS. That is worth $39 to me.
